Normally Burning Man takes place in a desert in Nevada USA - building a participatory city from scratch. Over the last 30 years a culture, and maybe even a movement, has evolved - partly based on 10 principles and with a transformative nature that makes many participants reconsider who they are and how they live their lives.

Now these 10 principles - and the culture – is brought for a week into a permanent city. The aim is to interact with all that is Aarhus; the people, the mindsets, the rules, the urban spaces, the buildings, the private homes, the municipality, the organizations, the dreams, the visions - and create transformative experiences together! We are certain that this will be an exciting challenge to both the 10 principles and to local ways, that will bring new insights.

Aarhus Burns will happen in the week leading up to the danish summer solstice, where there is a local tradition of having a bonfire. Opportunity for merging cultures?…we think so :)

The super interesting area Aarhus K will be the geographical epicenter and “safe haven” + there will be satellite projects, moving interventions and pop up events in other parts of the city where ever participants want to interact.
